The
troika meeting took place on 5-6 February 2001 in S�dert�lje
with the following agenda:
- Preparation
for the XXIVth COSAC and the creation of a working group
- Definition
of the XXIVth COSAC draft agenda
Mr. Hubert
Haenel gave an account of the result of the questionnaire
concerning the creation of a working group that was sent
out by the Assembl�e Nationale and the S�nat before Christmas.
Only two answers where negative to the creation of a working
group.
The troika
then decided to set up a working group, which should deal
with issues concerning national parliaments and the European
Union. This working group should consist of one member from
each chamber in the national parliaments and two members
from the European Parliament. It will meet on 9 April 2001
in Stockholm. A questionnaire and a discussion paper will
be sent out beforehand in order to prepare the meeting.
The result of this meeting will be discussed at the XXIVth
COSAC in Stockholm (20-22 May).
The troika
also agreed that the XXIVth COSAC will also deal with the
Swedish Presidency, a debate that will be opened by the
Swedish Prime Minister, Mr. G�ran Persson, the enlargement
(opening speech by the Swedish minister- of Foreign Affairs-
Mrs. Anna Lindh) and the environment (opening speech by
Mrs. Margot Wallstr�m, Member of the European Commission
with responsibility for environment, and Mr. Kjell Larsson,
Minister for the Environment).
